DEPUTY PRIME MINISTER HỒ ĐỨC PHỚC: "CASHLESS PAYMENT IS AN IRREVERSIBLE TREND"

Speaking at the “Sóng Festival: One Touch, Million Trusts” event on October 18, Deputy Prime Minister Hồ Đức Phớc affirmed that cashless payment is an inevitable trend of the times - an irreversible step forward in building a modern, safe digital and green economy.

The Deputy Prime Minister shared that upon attending Sóng Festival — the key activity of Vietnam Card Day 2025 jointly organized by Tiền Phong Newspaper and Napas — he could truly feel “the pulse of a Vietnam rising strongly toward the goal of prosperity and strength in a new era.”
More than just a youth festival, the event served as a convergence point for government leaders, regulators, and the public to witness the remarkable progress of the banking and financial sectors in Vietnam’s national digital transformation journey.

According to Mr. Phớc, the impressive figures reported at the event demonstrate a clear shift in consumer behavior. Hundreds of thousands of cashless technology experiences and tens of millions of social media engagements reflect how digital payments have become a mainstream choice — associated with convenience, safety, and public trust.

He emphasized that Vietnam Card Day 2025 took place at a meaningful milestone — marking the five-year review of the National Cashless Payment Development Plan (2021–2025). This success contributes significantly to implementing the National Financial Inclusion Strategy to 2025, Vision 2030, which aims for at least 80% of adults to own cashless transaction accounts, with annual growth rates of 20–25%.

The message “One Touch – Million Trusts,” according to the Deputy Prime Minister, harmoniously combines technology and trust, reflecting the Government’s commitment to protecting consumers and businesses through an increasingly robust legal and cybersecurity framework.
“Cashless payment is an irreversible trend — the main flow of economic activity that Vietnam has swiftly embraced,” he affirmed.

During his visit to the exhibition booths, the Deputy Prime Minister praised Vietnam Card Day as a meaningful initiative that concretizes the Government’s resolutions on advancing science, technology, and private sector development.
He expressed confidence that with the innovative spirit of the Vietnamese people, businesses, and especially the pioneering role of the younger generation, Vietnam will soon achieve its goal of building a modern, green, digital, and sustainable economy.

To further accelerate the adoption of cashless payments, the Deputy Prime Minister urged the banking and financial sectors to continue investing in technological infrastructure, expand electronic payment acceptance points across all business fields, and strengthen data security to maximize customer protection. He also underscored the importance of international integration, digital workforce development, and enhancing public awareness of modern payment methods.

Concluding his speech, Deputy Prime Minister Hồ Đức Phớc extended his best wishes for Vietnam Card Day 2025 – Sóng Festival to continue spreading the spirit of “One Touch – Million Trusts,” becoming a symbol of digital trust and modern consumer culture across the nation.
